I am a happily married, stay-at-home mother to two boys aged 8 and 3 years old. I am from India and presently live in South Africa. This is my first official attempt at blogging and I intend to share my experiences as a mother to a child on the spectrum and hope to enrich myself with your comments and suggestions.
You will also see my username as Ekmatr which is a hindi word and stands for “one and only” to stress the fact that as mothers we are the most important person in the life of our child and his or her recovery from the atypical to typical world can only happen with our help. Its just a happy coincidence that “Matr” means mother. I believe that the recovery process can only be faster by sharing experiences and information.
You are here at Atypically Yours -a blog that will inform you of the atypical ways and means I use to help my child on the spectrum. Excuse me for the occasional rants but I do hope that my experiences could help a mother who has just recieved an autism diagnosis for her child.
